‟The great powers“ by Smiljana Kojić Grandić
On Friday, June 3rd in the Terra Gallery the opening-performance of an artist from Kikinda, Smiljana Kojić-Grandić named ‟The great powers“ was arranged. Through exhibition setting which includes a video work, photographs and a sculpture, the author has investigated the great powers’ part with an accent on the United States of America, the world political, military and cultural scene.
“This is my revolt. The way these people have become American citizens induced a rebellion in me and the photographs are the expression of my feeling towards American policy that is imposed all over the world. People on the photographs are receiving american citizenship and they come from the countries destroyed concretely by the American policy. The people were expelled from their own countries and in search for happiness and better life they have arrived in America which offers a well known american dream.“ – the authoress said.
Smiljana Kojić Grandić was born in 1977 in Kikinda. In 2003 she graduated at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade at the Department of graphics. She exhibited at solo and group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. After a couple of years spent abroad she returned to Kikinda where she now lives and works.
