Joškin Šiljan – “Heart of Paper”

On February 11, at 7 p.m., Joshkin Šiljan’s exhibition “Paper Heart” was opened.

With the exhibition “Heart of Paper”, Joškin Šiljan explores the possibilities of paper as a basis for an artistic experiment. Paper, due to its fragility and tactility, enables easy transformation, changing the aesthetic and meaning layer. Šiljan uses it to collage, tear and write, creating works rich in visual, tactile and narrative layers. His works arise spontaneously as a reflection of the moment, where the artist acts as a mediator between the idea and the paper. Through paper dolls, which are mobile and unconventionally displayed, Šiljan explores freedom and movement. The works float between aesthetic and philosophical dimensions, rejecting frames and standardization, while inviting a multi-layered perception of the world. These spontaneous, automated and timeless works represent authentic visual maps of moments, emotions and situations, providing continuous interaction with the environment and encouraging diverse interpretation.
Joškin Šiljan (Nebojša Stojković) was born in 1953 in Pirot. He has been actively engaged in painting since 1987, and has been exhibiting officially since 1994.
