On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the exhibition L’art contact: French and Serbian sculpture from the Terra collection was opened at the Cultural Center of Serbia in Paris.
The sculptures of An Rošet, Mrđan Bajić, Jozet Barbie, Alain le Burgoc, Čedomir Vasić, Igor Antić, Olga Jančić, Florence Thor, Bernhard Ridiger, Tanja Ostojić, Ann Mercedes, Zlatko Glamočak, Tatjana Stolpović, Mirjana Blagojev and Slobodan K. Bijeljac are exhibited to the Parisian audience.
At the opening, the director of the Cultural Center of Serbia, Natali Beljanski, the director of the Terra Center, Aleksandar Lipovan, and the curator of the exhibition, Tijana Toševski, addressed the audience. The opening of the exhibition was attended by the artists Igor Antić, An Mercedes, Slobodan K. Bijeljac, Anne Rochet and Bernard Ridiger, as well as many French and Serbian cultural workers and artists.
The exhibition L’art contact is of great importance because it shows terracotta sculptures created during the four decades of the international terracotta sculpture symposium Terra in Kikinda. The Terra Museum today has a collection of over 1,200 sculptures, which is the largest contemporary collection of large-format terracotta sculptures in the world.
With a special emphasis on the dialogue between the French and Serbian art scenes, the exhibition illuminates the importance of cultural exchange and the preservation of artistic creativity in clay, highlighting the potential of contemporary creativity as a powerful tool for networking and intercultural dialogue. The exhibition includes two units – the presentation of the Terra Center in the basement as well as the works of French and Serbian artists that are arranged on the ground floor and on the first floor of the SKC.
The exhibition is open to visitors from January 16 to February 7, 2025.
