Interview with multimedia artist Dragan Vojvodić.
“The key characteristic of Vojvodić’s artistic discourse is the exploration of the context of a specific place through the process of creative nomadism, which is present as an occasion, incentive and method of procedural work. As an artist who during the 90s of the 20th century was forced to leave Sarajevo, the multinational environment of his upbringing and youth, to interrupt his planned artistic path and his newly started studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the same city, Vojvodić accepts exile as an inevitability that becomes a characteristic of his being and the direction of action in his artistic practice. For him, the moment of departure was an act of breaking with a point of support, a moment of accumulation, but also liberation from local and collective identity, the beginning of forced, but at the same time, independent creation of paths. He continued and finished his studies at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, for him a new environment into which he gradually integrated, but at the same time he continued to seek grounding in constant movement, travel and nomadism. However, it seems that alienation, isolation, interruptions and traumas remained an important segment of his artistic expression.”
