Silvia Rodriguez

Argentina

Biografija

Born in 1952 in Buenos Aires. An artist from Argentina who began to express her art since early childhood. At the age of six, she started taking ceramics and sculpting lessons. In parallel with high school, she also completed graphic design school. Then she simultaneously worked, studied industrial chemistry and art. In four years, with an Acadian title, she confirmed her knowledge of painting, sculpting and engraving, and then specialized in sculpture for another three years. This was followed by a period of collaboration with colleagues and architects on various monuments, pedagogical work, applied art, sculptures as part of the scenography, a trip to Italy and the study of Etruscan art. She received a scholarship to specialize in marble sculpture (U Carrera), sculpture symposia, exhibitions and awards.

Argentinian Silvia Rodríguez brought a part of the atmosphere of Latin American art to Kikinda’s “second drive”. The basic simple form is complemented by relief – pictorial data. The motifs of these reliefs are figurative, and their symbolic interpretation is of a social character. By harmonizing these intentions with the peculiarities of her own poetic personality, the artist manages to achieve formal and realistic results that offer wide spaces of metaphorical possibilities. Here, visual – plastic symbols offer inexhaustible possibilities of interpretation and experience. – Sava Stepanov, art critic (Tera 1989)
