Biography
Ulrike Kessel
born in Rottweil in 1962, studied fine arts with Erwin Heerich at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in the 1980s. In 1992 she had a graduate scholarship at the Institut des Hautes Etudes en Arts Plastiques (Prof. Daniel Buren and Pontus Hulten).Textiles have been one of the sculptor’s preferred materials since the 1990s. Her objects and installations interact with the existing spatial situation and its architecture. The artist’s exhibition activity is extremely varied and extensive and her works are represented in numerous public and private collections. Ulrike Kessel is also active as a lecturer and visiting professor. She lives and works in Dusseldorf.
