Biography
Babić, Antun, Croatian sculptor and printmaker (Bijeljina, BiH, January 30, 1931). Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1958 (V. Radauš). Since 1978, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Education in Osijek. His figures and compositions in clay (which he often paints) stand out with their strong, robust forms of closed volumes on the edge of parody (Siča sídi, 1976; Baja, 1991; Čovjek, 2012). The caricature approach is also used in the production of medals. He bases his graphic expression on ironic and grotesque depictions and the interweaving of plastic and linear elements. He published several graphics maps (Bestiary, 1987); wrote about fine art pedagogy and fine arts (Review of art history, 1997).
